AcuPages.com Q&A

Q: Why did you decide to be an acupuncturist?
A California Licensed Acupuncturist and a Diplomate by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and oriental medicine, Bret Ellington honed his expertise in clinical practice and education travel throughout Southeast Asia. Bret developed his interest in medicine and alleviating suffering while training as an Emergency Medical Technician and working on a Biology Undergraduate program. He volunteered at the Memorial Hospital Emergency Room one evening a week, to submerge himself into the health field. Soon thereafter, he chose to study the many facets of Oriental Medicine and completed 5 years of training in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Fire Cupping, Qi Gong, Nutrition, Chinese Body Therapy, Meditation and Tai Chi. Having a comprehensive understanding of the muscle tissue enables Bret?s patients to feel more comfortable and get better results quicker. He is nationally licensed as a massage therapist, certified in Oriental Body Therapy as well as being a Holistic Health Practitioner. Besides using his healing touch to alleviate pain from patients in several different doctors? offices, he pampered many clients while working at the 5 star/5 diamond St Regis Resort in Dana Point, California at Spa Gaucin. Bret?s training and natural touch have gained him a special expertise in treating acute and chronic pain syndromes. His continuing education has expanded his competence in women?s health and infertility. He is fully trained in the Nicotine and Drug Addiction (NADA) protocol and works closely with a number of drug addiction rehabilitation centers in Orange County. Bret extensively treated pain and psychological torture victims in affiliation with Survivors of Torture International in San Diego. Bret treats each patient uniquely, allowing for the restoration of proper balance and energy. His knowledge, expertise and gentle approach make him the perfect practitioner for those in distress.
Q: What work/education experience makes you a better acupuncturist ?
My experience working with a very wide variety of patients has enabled me to grow as a practitioner. Working with survivors of torture has enabled me to deal with patients with long term physical and emotional trauma. Treating patients in drug and alcohol rehabilitation homes has helped me to deal with patients addictions and all the other issues that arise from it (insomnia, depression,, mental restlessness, digestive disorders, etc...).Finally, having suffered an injury to my lower back years ago resulting in herniated discs, I know what's it's like to be in pain and want quality care. I give my patients the kind of care I would want. The Best care possible.
Q: What about your personal interests?
When I'm not at the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful girlfriend and her son. I love riding my motorcycle through some of the canyons around the area and also relaxing at home with my guitar.
