Our clinic is a relaxing, comfortable space where you are treated with special care. We primarily provide acupuncture to people unfamiliar with it, so we work hard to educate people about Asian medicine. Unlike some of the "mill" type clinics, we spend much more than the common 20-30 minutes with you, most sessions being 1 to 1.25 hours in length. Additionally, I only use two treatment rooms so I can really focus on you. Thus I see only 10 people per day.
Many years of practice has helped me find the most efficient ways to help people, and I will send you to other practitioners if I feel I cannot help. We integrate knowledge of Western medicine and common sense, to design treatments that work deeply to steer the body in a better direction. Pain control is good, but helping the body remember how to heal itself is our real objective. We will recommend nutritional and herbal therapies conservatively to help you get the most out of your treatment here. |

I was curious about the healing methods used in countries where western scientific medicine was not the primary modality. Thus, after finishing my pre-med Biology degree, I went directly to acupuncture school. I had intended to someday go to medical school, but later decided that Asian medicine was my home.
Since beginning my practice, I saw that some of the basic techniques we were taught in school were just not enough. Thus after 5 years of somewhat frustrating results, I searched for more education. I studied herbology with Ken Morris at the Institute of Chinese Herbology in a 2 year course of 325 hours. Then I began studying with Miki Shima OMD in a two year course in Japanese Acupuncture technique. Subsequently I continued with him in a 2 year course on the Shang Han Lun, treatment of infectious diseases with ancient formulas. I also spent 2 years in the Graduate Mentorship Program in Chinese Herbology with Sharon Weizenbaum, LAc. During this time I have also taken extensive training in Functional Medicine (Nutrition) through Metagenics, have completed Susan Johnson's course in Tong style acupuncture, have trained with Richard Tan in Balance Method, Have studied Korean Hand Acupuncture, and most recently have begun studying with Kiiko Matsumoto and David Euler, making extensive use of seminars and textbook study of their unique method. I have attended the Great River Symposiums, the AAAOM national conference, and have taken courses through Blue Poppy seminars with Bob Flaws, Honora Wolfe, and others, and many other seminars on acupuncture and Chinese herbalism. Along the way I have also taken OSHA blood-borne pathogen training, CPR,and insurance-billing training. I daily read and study Chinese medicine to continue to better myself and help more people. I also communicate regularly with other acupuncturists about questions that arise in my practice. Finally, I am a columnist specializing in ethics for Acupuncture Today magazine, and publish articles in other journals from time to time.
I enjoy music, gardening, cooking, camping, travel, reading, computer activities, dogs, spiritual practice, home improvement projects, photography, and health-related activities.
