Practice Description
Classical Five Element Acupuncture (CFEA) is a unique and powerful system of medicine, which treats the underlying energetic causes of illness. More than simply relieving symptoms, CFEA promotes healing at a deep level, with sustainable, lasting results. By treating the root of illness, CFEA heals body, mind and spirit from the inside out.

People seek out CFEA for many conditions, including physical ailments, emotional issues, general well-being, and reducing or avoiding the need for prescription medication.

Adjunctive therapies, including body work (Zero Balancing), herbal medicine, and dietary and lifestyle guidance, may also be recommended for some clients.

Education
Graduated from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2001 with M.Ac.O.M. degree
Graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1991 with Ph.D. degree

AcuPages.com Q&A

Q: Why did you decide to be an acupuncturist?
I practice acupuncture because I believe it offers a form of healing that people in my country (USA) deeply need.
I worked in the Western health care system, as a public health researcher, for many years before becoming an acupuncturist. I understand the strengths and weaknesses of Western medicine.

Chinese medicine offers a completely different way of understanding the body and healing. It is strong in areas where Western medicine is weak. Specifically, I consider my modality of choice (Classical Five Element acupuncture) to be particularly helpful for (1) chronic conditions with multi-factorial causes and a complex symptom manifestation (e.g., fibromyalgia, migraines) and (2) mind/body ailments where emotional and physical issues are intertwined.
Q: What work/education experience makes you a better acupuncturist ?
2 years of postgraduate training and certification in Classical Five Element Acupuncture (CFEA)
Worsley Institute approved practitioner of CFEA

certified Zero Balancer (Zero Balancing Health Association)

board-certified Chinese herbalist (NCCAOM)

former faculty member, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine former Dean of Doctoral Studies, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine

private clinical practice since 2001
Q: What about your personal interests?
a commitment to living with consciousness and love

reverence and awe for the natural world

an appreciation for the human spirit and creativity in all its manifestations

hiking, skiing and playing, especially with my dogs

spending time with friends and family
