| I offer my patients a serene, safe environment for healing. As a Five-Element practitioner, I do a lot of active listening, to really get to know you and learn your needs, problems, and aspirations. Many people come to me with personal or professional stresses that impact their well-being. We work as partners to help your body, mind, and spirit heal themselves. For some people, their main concern is managing pain or resolving other physical problems, in any system of their body. I believe that many of these problems stem from emotional or spiritual roots, and part of my job is to find the source of the problem and address it. Other people may find themselves at crossroads in their lives and need help with the mixed emotions and physical problems they are experiencing. In these situations, my goal is to help them "nourish their destiny," a term coined by Lonny Jarrett, a published author and Five Element acupuncturist. Women's issues and challenges are of special interest to me, and I work with women of all ages to help them with menstrual and menopausal problems, infertility, and depletion as a result of "over-giving." I also provide cosmetic acupuncture (facial rejuvenation), a wonderful alternative to facelifts. Two additional methods that enhance treatments are organic essential oils and Korean hand therapy, which accesses all areas of the body on the hand. This can be especially helpful for people who are afraid of needles. |

Although I do not work directly with insurance carriers, if yours covers acupuncture treatments, I would request that you pay me out of pocket and I will give you a receipt to submit for reimbursement. Also, I offer a sliding scale for people with financial challenges. |

Throughout my life, I have been interested in "the road less taken," as Robert Frost expressed in that poem. I've been intrigued by metaphysics, spirituality, holistic health, yoga and meditation, and Eastern art and philosophy. I was a writer/editor/public relations consultant for more than 20 years. Shortly after my 40th birthday, I realized that this work no longer resonated with my inner self. I truly wanted to help make the world a better place, by reaching out and helping people with healing methods. Through synchronicity, I met several Philadelphia-area acupuncturists and attended an introductory workshop in Five Element Acupuncture. Ten minutes into the workshop, I knew this was the work I was destined to do. And I feel blessed to have had the support and encouragement to study and begin a new career in midlife. My thanks go to my family, friends, colleagues, and, of course, to my wonderful patients, who teach me as much or more than I teach them.
I was trained in the time-honored form of an apprenticeship, which included five students and four practitioner/teachers. I had a personal mentor, who was one of the first acupuncturists in Pennsylvania. I learned theory and case histories, observed my teachers in the clinic, observed other Five Element acupuncturists along the East Coast, and was supervised while treating patients myself. Once I became nationally board-certified, I wrote a Masters' thesis on eating disorders and received my Masters degree, which was an optional choice. Over the past 12 years, I have had more than 50 speaking engagements, and I frequently lecture at the Won Institute, PA's only acupuncture school. I continue to learn new methods, such as Korean hand therapy, cosmetic acupuncture, and aromatherapy, to enhance the benefits of treatments for my patients. In turn, I enjoy teaching my patients about Oriental views on nutrition, lifestyle, and the importance of balance in life.
Apart from acupuncture and Chinese medicine, my passions in life include my family and friends, music, reading, good conversation, politics, dancing, film, and walking. I also enjoy nature and water activities, such as swimming and canoeing.
