I use Traditional Chinese Medicine paradigm, including Chinese Herbal medicines, Acupuncture and acupressure/tuina massage as needed. My practice is generally based upon word of mouth referral.
I was trained in California and China, in practice since 1984. I was awarded a Governor's commendation for Distinquished Public Service for my years of service as Chair of the Idaho licensing board. AcuPages.com Q&A
Q: Why did you decide to be an acupuncturist?
My background was in western medicine, however when working with patients (nursing level)I frequently saw that Western medicine sometimes has no means of helping with chronic illness and to assure quality of life. I believe that health is more than the absence of disease. When I discovered Oriental Medicine, I found a means to improve many conditions and overall wellbeing, without any of the science contradicting that which I already knew in western science. It simply fills in the missing places in caring for people and empowering them with ways to promote their own health.
I enjoy explaining Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture in terms and ways my patients can understand.
Q: What work/education experience makes you a better acupuncturist ?
I have been blessed with many good teachers, and a wonderful clinical supervisor in the hospital in China. I was also priveleged to practice for a while in Germany with a very fine senior colleague. As for continuing education, I may hold some kind of record - I love to keep studying. However, far and away the most influential power which has shaped my ability to be a better acupuncturist is my commitment to my patients.
Many of my patients have sought care after having limited results from other treatments. The challenge to care for a wide variety of difficult cases has given me the opportunity to revisit my reference texts again and again.
Q: What about your personal interests?
My husband and I enjoy a life close to nature at our forest farm. Animals and garden bring joy to my life, as does a good book.
