Q: Why did you decide to be an acupuncturist?
I always knew I wanted to work in medicine, but through my undergraduate studies in psychology and pre-med, I became frustrated that traditional medicine seemed to try to fit everyone into categories and "boxes". I wanted a deeper medicine that treated the person, not the disease. Through my own interest in fitness and yoga, I started to hear more about acupuncture research, and was amazed to see what it could do for breast cancer patients. I went to an orientation later that month at my local acupuncture school and was not only hooked, but excited to learn I lived so close to the top-ranked school in the country. Each day, my passion for this beautiful medicine grows as I continually amaze myself and patients alike as to the power of its healing.
